Have you ever seen God create something out of nothing? We see in scripture that God is the Creator of heaven and earth. In fact, the book of Genesis tells us that "earth was formless and empty." (Gen. 1:2) Yet, the Bible goes on to tell the story of God the Creator. Now, I have heard and believed in God the Creator for most of my life but I have never really seen God create something out of nothing. Until now...
My family and I moved to Cartersville nine months ago to start a new United Methodist Church. We didn't know anyone. We didn't know where the church was going to be. We didn't even know the name. Shortly thereafter, we met a wonderful family (the Bursons) that shared our desire and passion to grow a new community faith that was intentional about reaching people that are not connected to Jesus Christ. One by one, God brought other people into our paths. God brought resources. God brought people with different gifts. This past week, we had the privilege of serving a dinner at Trinity UMC for the congregation in order to raise some funds for our church to purchase some items to help a family in the community that needs some assistance around their house. It was awesome. I watched as young people served meals. I saw families excited about serving. I saw God the Creator creating a community of faith. I cannot tell you how exciting it is to see God work in the midst of our lives and know that is creating something out of nothing. Ask youself - where is God creating in your life???
